Rebuilding at 26: What Starting Over Taught Me About Growth (and Marketing a Holistic Business)

I used to think I’d have everything figured out by 26.

I imagined myself financially free, thriving in a career I loved, feeling rooted and established, especially after years of effort. But instead of reaching some ideal version of “success,” I found myself rebuilding.

And oddly enough… I’ve realized rebuilding isn’t all that bad.

When Life Doesn’t Go to Plan (Especially as a Wellness Entrepreneur)

Last month was my birthday, and like most birthdays, it got me reflecting.

I’m not where I thought I’d be by this age. In my early 20s, I pictured stability - a clear path, consistent income, a thriving business. Instead, the past few years have looked more like a spiral: messy, tangled, and full of starts and stops.

Some of that upheaval I resisted. Some of it I welcomed. I’ve always been a bit of a rebel at heart… but being broke, uncertain, and lost? Not exactly glamorous. 🙃

And yet, all of it brought me back to one core desire: foundation.

Each year on my birthday, I choose a word to guide the year ahead. For three years in a row, it’s been the same one: foundation.

I want to feel grounded - in my body, my business, my home. I want to stop floating and start rooting into something real.

But to get there, a lot had to change.

A Messy Journey Back to Myself (and a Better Business)

Here’s what the past three years have looked like behind the scenes:

  • I ended a toxic relationship and began the slow process of rediscovering myself.

  • I bounced from job to job until I realized I wanted to work for myself.

  • I launched a yoga business that quietly flopped (because I had no idea how to market it).

  • I moved across the country… and then back home — something my ego really didn’t want to do.

  • I found copywriting, fell in love with storytelling, and built a business. (One that had zero systems at first, but hey — we grow.)

That’s a lot of change. A lot of pivots. A lot of starting over.

But that spiral? It eventually led me here:

🌱 A business that feels aligned
🌱 A lifestyle I genuinely enjoy
🌱 A deeper connection to family and community
🌱 A loving, supportive relationship

And most of all… a clearer understanding of how to help other holistic practitioners do the same.

What Rebuilding Taught Me About Marketing (Especially Through Storytelling)

When I work with naturopathic doctors and holistic health practitioners now, I often see them in a similar spot: rebuilding, realigning, or starting over in business.

They know how powerful their work is — but they’re unsure how to communicate that in a way that connects.

And the truth is? The same storytelling that helped me heal and rebuild my own life… is the same storytelling I use to help my clients grow their practices through email.

Because in a wellness business, your story is your strategy. That’s how you attract the right clients — the ones who value what you do before they ever book a session.

You don’t need hype. You need honesty, alignment, and a message that resonates.

If You're in a Rebuilding Season…

Whether you’re starting your holistic practice from scratch, pivoting your services, or just feeling like the “business side” isn’t working — I’ve been there.

And if you're ready to bring more clarity, alignment, and strategy into your marketing, especially through email, I can help.

There’s no one timeline for growth. Sometimes you pause. Sometimes you pivot.

And sometimes, you rebuild from the ground up.

It may not be where you thought you’d be, but it might be exactly where you're meant to begin again. 🌀
